Robert LaVerne Henke

Robert LaVerne Vern Henke passed away peacefully February 7, 2014 at Beatrice Hover Assisted Living in Longmont, CO at the age of 93. Vern was born on January 15, 1921 in Fort Morgan, Colorado to John and Wilhelmina (Neeman) Henke. Vern moved to Longmont in 1950 from Fort Morgan, Colorado He married Elva Noreen Leinweber, September 10, 1967. He was a carpenter for many years in the community and was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Vern was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elva, one son Randall Lee Henke, one brother Clarence Henke, and four sisters, Leona Oswald, Matilda Criley, Eval Witter, Hazel Smith. Vern is survived by his daughter Leslie Anne Stice (Brian) of Longmont three grandchildren Amanda Lee Henke of Iowa, Cayden Nathaniel Stice of Longmont Albert Joseph Stice of Longmont, two sisters: Doris Neb-Wiggins of Colorado and Thelma Schnegelberger of Berthoud, Colorado, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A viewing will be held from 5-7PM Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel . Funeral services will be held at NOON Friday, February 14, 2014 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment to follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Beatrice Hover in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
