
He died December 21, 2024 age 77, at the Adara Living Center in Broomfield, CO of mesothelioma. Bob graduated from Longmont High School in 1965 and earned a bachelor's degree from Colorado State University in 1970. Immediately after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a helicopter pilot. During his tour in Vietnam he served with distinction earning several Medals for distinguished service including two Bronze Stars. He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant in 1973 after which he returned to Longmont. He worked for the St. Vrain Power Plant for over 20 years and for St. Vrain Restaurant Supply for over 15 years until June of 2024 when his failing health forced him to retire.
Bob was preceded in death by his Parents, Merle and Lois Kevan and a sister Sharon Kevan. He Never married and had no children. He is survived by 4 cousins: Sam Kevan of Austin, CO, Rosemary Kevan Wimberly of Bellevue, WA, Robert Lancaster of Canon City, CO, and Laurita Lancaster Hume of Caldwell, ID.
Bob was a member of VFW 2601, Longmont, CO, American Legion 32, Longmont, CO, Elks Lodge, Longmont, CO, and the National Rifle Association. He was also a coin collector and an active member of the Front Range Coin Club for which he volunteered at coin shows held at the Boulder County Fair Grounds. Bob was also an avid NASCAR fan, a frequent visitor of the Reno NV Air Show, and was a part of a local hot air balloon crew for 15 years. Bob’s other interests included collecting coins, watches, and fountain pens, reading books while smoking his pipe and researching and visiting old railroad steam engines. He also enjoyed meeting up with old friends and co-workers on special occasions or at his favorite restaurant, The Hidden Cafe, in Longmont where his presence will be missed.
No formal services are planned now, but an informal Celebration of Life event for friends will be planned for later this year.
