

Robert Bob Richard Lurvey passed away on April 27, 2018 at his home. He was 79 years old.Bob was born on June 19, 1938 in Painesville, Ohio to Alvin and Dorothy (Sivula) Lurvey. He grew up in Fairport Harbor, Ohio where he was raised by his grandparents after his mother passed away when he was five. He graduated from Fairport High School in 1956. He graduated from Ohio State University's School of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in 1962; he would later go on to obtain his Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University.On September 16, 1961 he married Patricia Blaney in Bethesda, Ohio. Bob spent 33 years working for Eli Lilly and Company, working at many of their facilities and labs, including in Indianapolis, IN from 1962-1979, in Puerto Rico from 1979-1982, back in Indianapolis and Clinton, IN until 1987. Bob then took the position of General Manager in Ireland and England from 1987-1992, before moving back to Indianapolis to finish his career when he retired in Clinton in 1999. Bob and Patricia continued to live in Indianapolis until they moved to Longmont Colorado in 2009 to be close to family.Bob was of the Methodist faith and attended St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, and Rocky Mountain Christian Church in Niwot. He belonged to the Indianapolis Country Club and enjoyed mentoring students and mentoring small businesses through SCORE.Bob loved spending time with his family and friends, golfing, traveling, hiking, skiing and sailing.He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents.Bob is survived by his with Patricia; his daughters Elaine (Bryan) Swallow and Carol (Robert) Bond; his grandchildren Eric Bond, Patrick Swallow, Isaac Swallow and Katelyn Bond; his step-brother Ken Cleary and his step-sister Barbara Piispanen.A memorial service for Bob will be held at 6:00pm Monday May 14, 2018 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont, CO. Cremation entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Memorial contributions can be made to Salvation Army or The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
