

Ronald R. Ron Kassner passed away June 29, 2016 at his residence. He was 76 years old. Ron was born on July 12, 1939 in Chicago, Illinois to Edmund and Carolyn M. (Somogyi) Kassner. He grew up on the farm in NW Indiana, Los Gatos, California and SW Missouri. He graduated from Morgan Township High School in NW Indiana. After graduating he joined the US Navy for four years, serving in Long Beach, CA and then Ron spent two years deployed in the Far East based out of Yokosuka, Japan. While in the service he was on the USS James E. Kyes, DD-787. After he was honorably discharged he returned to school where he received an Associate's degree in Business and English from Hutchinson Community College in 1964 and a Bachelor's degree in Business and Real Estate Management from the University of Colorado in 1969.In June of 1964 he married Linda Nelson of Hutchinson, KS and they have been married for 52 years. Together they moved to Longmont from Hutchinson, KS in September of 1965.While in Missouri Ron worked as an Electrician/Technician. He worked in General construction in Kansas and Colorado before he started his own business Kassner & CO construction where he worked as a general contractor and a custom builder in Longmont. Ron was also a licensed Realtor in Colorado.He was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church; the Fox Hill Country Club, Longmont Builders Association, American Legion Post 32, American Trap Shooters Association and belonged to the University of Colorado Alumni Association.Ron was a strong man with a strong faith in God. He served on church boards, taught Sunday School classes, and sang in choirs of the churches he attended during his lifetime, and greatly enjoyed friendships he made along the way. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially water and snow skiing, golfing, fishing, hunting, and shooting sports. His favorite things were the crisp fall air, blue skies, upland birds, great dogs, fine guns and good friends to enjoy it all with.Ron was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister Sherry Rose Vance.He is survived by his wife Linda J. Kassner; his son Scott N. Kassner of Longmont; his daughter Kim K. Medwetz and her husband Jeff of Longmont; his grandchildren Grace and Sophia Medwetz of Longmont; and his sister Becky Kolb of Springfield, MO.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday July 9, 2016 at LifeBridge Christian Church.
