

Ron Smith of Mead, CO and longtime resident of Longmont, CO passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends. He was a beacon of light and hope in the community, touching many lives in service and kindness.
Ron was born in Canfield, CO and attended Erie High School. He was a Longmont Reserve Police Officer, a Welding Foreman for Golden Sand & Gravel and retired as the Grounds Manager for St. Vrain Valley School District. In retirement, he enjoyed many road trips visiting family and National Parks with his beloved wife Wanda. Since childhood, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. He mentored many young people and loved sharing the wisdom acquired from a well lived life with others. Unselfish and caring, he was always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife Wanda (Griswold) Smith; son Norwood “Woody” Smith (Maureen); stepdaughters Lori Spendlow, Roni Hinkson (RH); grandchildren Angela Heverly (Chris), Justin Smith; brother Bill Smith as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his faithful dog Norman.
He is preceded in death by his parents; late wife Judy (Lawley) and a sister Betty Beckham.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3rd 2024, from 10:30am to 1:30pm at the Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 15179 County Road 7, Mead, CO 80542. Food and beverages will be served and casual attire requested. Please feel free to bring your memories to share.
