
Roy Wilson Lynch (87 years), former Virginia resident, passed away on August 3 at Frazier Meadows Care Center. Roy was born January 6, 1924 in Roanoke, Virginia, the son of Ruth and Daniel Lynch (both deceased). His sister, Dorothy Edwards, and brother, Elmer Lynch preceded him in death. His younger brother, Daniel Lynch, lives in Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina.
Roy served in the US Army (1942- 1945) during World War II in Europe. He was one of 20 survivors in his company of the Battle of the Remagen Bridge in Belgium. After World War II, Roy attended Emory and Henry College where he met his future wife, Nancy Haislip. They were married in 1948 for 58 years until her death in 2006.
Roy worked as a state probation officer in Virginia and a federal parole officer in the District of Columbia. Roy had a beautiful baritone voice and performed both professionally and for personal enjoyment over his lifetime.
He is survived by daughters Karen Lynch (Mickey Glantz) of Boulder, Colorado and Amy Lynch of New Bern, NC and a son, Roy Junior (Mary) of Indiana, Pennsylvania. He leaves grandchildren, Roy Lynch, III, (Shannon), Eli Lynch (Jenny), and Jenny Willis (Taylor). Great grandchildren include Elisabeth; Jonah; Ellie; Samal and Danesh and soon to be Jacob.
After Nancy’s death in 2006 Roy lived both in Boulder, Colorado and Indiana, Pennsylvania. In both places he enjoyed family, food and the movies of his era. His enjoyment in his last years was greatly enhanced by Dr. Dean Beasley and the Table Mesa Family Medicine staff; Home Instead Care for Seniors; Hospice Care of Boulder and Broomfield Counties and Frasier Meadows Care Center.
