
Rudolph Rudy Salazar, formerly of Denver and La Jara, Colorado, died on March 16, 2011 at Manor Care in Boulder. He was 90 years old.Rudy was born on August 13, 1920 in Antonito, Colorado, the son of Pete and Deluvina (Valdez) Salazar. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and was honorably discharged a Sergeant. Rudy moved to Denver in 1945.Rudy married Marie Duran in 1948 and she preceded him in death in 1963. He married Carolyn Shelton in 1966 and they later divorced. In 1973, Rudy married Mary Reisinger.Rudy enjoyed a long career as a Barber for over 40 years in the Denver area, the last barbershop being Napoleon's Barbers. He retired in 1994.He was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in the San Luis Valley of Southern Colorado. Rudy was a wonderful cook and he enjoyed fishing and gardening. Rudy will be remembered as very mechanically inclined; he could fix or build anything, including items of his own designs.He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.Rudy is survived by his wife, Mary Salazar; five children, Edwina M. Salazar, Rudy J. Salazar, Mark J. Salazar, Judy A. Salazar and Kathleen Salak; two brothers, Gilbert and Orlando Salazar; four sisters, Tina Anderson, Nyna Gray, Maria Salazar and Freda Salazar Davis; 10 grandchildren, Natalie S. Waldrip, Rolfe (Rudy) Salazar, Pia M. Terrones, Patrick Lopez, Steven Lopez, Karen Lopez, Eric Salazar, Kaitlyn Buethe, Ryan Salak and Madelyn Salak and several great-grandchildren.Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00pm Monday at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Denver. Rosary Prayers will be said at 7:00pm Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Conejos, CO. Mass of Christian Burial will also be held 10:00 Wed. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment at Ortiz Cemetery, Ortiz, Colorado. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and mailed to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
