

Ruth was born to Harry and Glendora Cavinee on February 16, 1918 in Mound City, Kansas. She was one of eight children with only the youngest sister Pat Smith surviving. She spent her childhood in Kansas and graduated from Parker High School. Ruth married Thomas L. Burnett on June 6, 1937. Together they had four children. They moved to Colorado in 1955, first to Fort Collins and then settling in Longmont.
Ruth was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, family and her faith. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. After Tom retired, they moved to Queen Valley, Arizona where they enjoyed golfing, playing cards and their many new friends. Tom passed away in May of 2000 and Ruth then returned to Longmont. She was a resident at the Timberline Lodge for the last eleven years. She loved her new friends and ""family"" there.
Ruth is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Vickie and Rick Diamond of Casper, Wyoming, her son and daughter-in-law Jim and Debbie Burnett of Palisade, Colorado, her son-in-law Ray Taggert of Pinewood Springs, Colorado, and her sister Pat Smith of Green Valley, Arizona. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Delina (Jeff) Woods, Jennifer (Boyd) Wilfrod, and Mathew (Allison) Diamond. Ruth was also survived by six great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Thomas Burnett, her son Donald Burnett, and daughter Linda Taggert.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 21 at Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St. Longmont, Co 80501. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or to The Timberline Lodge in care of Howe Mortuary. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
