

Scott Howard Vaughan, 55, of Longmont, died January 9, 2016 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, CO. He was born September 23, 1960 in Denver, Colorado to Carolyn (Breuch) and Richard Vaughan. Following his graduation from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a degree in Physics, Scott joined the Air Force in an officer's program for training as an Orbital Analyst Officer. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Captain. With continued education he obtained a master's degree and then a PHD in computer science from Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs. He worked in the private sector as an Orbital Analyst Officer and Software Engineer with a focus on GPS satellites.
Scott loved music, playing pool, sci-fi and Star Trek. He will be remembered as a man who was thoughtful with his words and a careful listener. He enjoyed cooking and hosting any party. He was a quiet guy who loved to be around fun, people and laughter.
Scott met and fell in love with his wife JoAnn Trott in 1976, when they were very young. They lived most of their adult lives apart, coming back together in 2008 and marrying on September 6, 2015. He was a wonderful father to Ben and Railynn and an amazing dad to Nicholas. Scott’s love for his family was evident in the care and the love he willingly showed. The kind words and love he generously gave on a daily basis will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his parents, his wife JoAnn, his sons Ben and Nicholas and his daughter RaiLynn. He is further survived by a brother, Mark Vaughan and a sister, Jill Jeffries and his grandmother Juliet Vaughan.
Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on January 30, 2016, at the Longmont Senior Center, 910 Longs Peak Ave. Longmont.
