Sharon was born on December 7, 1936 in Peoria, Illinois to Ellis “Red” and Rosie (DeMarini) Catterall. She grew up and attended schools in Bartonville, Illinois with her one older brother, Harold. She was involved in various activities during high school and especially enjoyed singing and being a cheerleader.
Sharon had her 1st date with the love of her life, Harold Schindler, on Memorial Day and they were married five months later, November 23, 1957 in Bartonville. They remained happily married for over 61 years. Sadly, Harold passed away in February 2019. All three of their children were born in Illinois. They moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1963 and to Longmont, Colorado in 1981. Sharon always put the needs of her husband, children, and grandchildren first. She was a great homemaker, excellent cook and “green thumb”, winning numerous awards for her houseplants in local shows in Buckeye, Arizona. She supported her children at every sporting, academic, and musical event. If you were sick (whether you were 2 or 50), you could count on “Noni” to bring you homemade turkey broth and ravioli – a miracle cure.
Harold and Sharon were fortunate to travel abroad including trips to Germany, Italy, United Kingdom, Tahiti, Dominican Republic, Hawaii, Alaska, Acapulco, Mazatlán, and Puerto Vallarta Mexico and even a stop in Reykjavík, Iceland. They bought their first RV in 1985 and traveled extensively across the US visiting family and friends with stops in almost every state. They spent many winter months in Arizona and in Puerto Penasco, Mexico where they enjoyed the company of family, many friends, fresh seafood, the sunsets and Happy Hours.
Sharon is survived by daughter Leslie (Kelly) Stengel, sons Brad (Julie) and Craig (Rachel) Schindler, seven grandchildren, Holly (Mike) Clements, Craig (Marian), Allison, and Pike Schindler, Connor and Wyatt Stengel and Tori (Dylan) Odom. She also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, Hank, Ellen, Mary and Peter Clements, and Chloe Stengel, Sister-in-Law, Sally Catterall, and many nieces and nephews.
Always sharing her beautiful smile, Sharon lived a full life, creating wonderful memories for all who touched it.
Cremation has been entrusted to Ahlberg Funeral Home in Longmont. She will be interned with her husband, Harold, at Fort Logan National Cemetery. At her request, no services will be held.
