Shirley Elaine Rasmussen, of Denver, Colorado, died Saturday, October 14, 2006 at Hospice of Metro Denver. She was 77 years old.Shirley was born April 27, 1929 in Longmont, Colorado to Elmer Rasmussen, Sr. and Sadie (Slinde) Rasmussen. After graduating from Longmont High School in 1947, she graduated from St. Luke?s School of Nursing. She also did graduate work at the University of Denver.Ms. Rasmussen spent her career as a nurse with Longmont United Hospital, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and several Denver area hospitals.She enjoyed traveling, volunteering, and cross-stitching. She will be remembered as a wonderful cook, talented seamstress and a caring friend.She is survived by five brothers, all of Longmont: Elmer, Howard, Charles, Leonard and Famuer Rasmussen; and by a sister, Sonja Walek of Ft. Morgan; numerous nieces, nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Harriet Rasmussen.Private graveside services will be held at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery. Howe Mortuary, Longmont, is handling local arrangements.Donations may be made in Shirley?s memory to the charity of the donor?s choice.
