

He was born November 12th 1937, in Visalia, California to Leo S. Ray and Sara Alice Martin.
He grew up in the Santa Cruz area and attended Santa Cruz High School. He joined the Air Force right after high school.
Stephen was a Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
He married the love of his life, Rosalie Juarez in 1957. They moved to the Longmont area in 1982 from San Jose California.
His 30 year military career began when he joined the Air Force in 1954. He served in the Air Force until 1967. He then served in the Navy from 1970 to 1972 before joining the Army where he served from 1973 -1993. During his time with the Army he was as a Recruiter in Longmont. After his retirement from the Army in 1993 he continued to serve his community as a Boulder County Security Officer.
His dedication and commitment was evidenced by his many awards and commendations over his long career.
He belonged to many organizations over the years including the VFW and the American Legion.
He loved all things “Military” especially building model planes. He played recreational softball; probably longer than he should have! He took great joy in family outings and vacations over the years, especially camping and fishing trips. In his later years he enjoyed traveling in and out of country with his wife and friends.
Stephen was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Ray; his grandson Scottie Terreault and three son in laws Frank Montoya, Eddie Terreault and Darren Spoering.
He is survived by his wife Rosalie J. Ray; his children; William “Bill” Ray (Barbara), Teresa Hulett (Mike), Sandra McGill, Diane Terreault and Pamela Spoering; his sisters Sharon Roanhorse (Herman) and Betty Ray; his grandchildren Sarena, Dane, Melissa, Stephen, Megan, Sandi, Andrea, Glen, Jennifer, Jessica, Amber and Jonathan.
He also enjoyed 30 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Stephen will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colorado 80501. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 326 Terry St., Longmont, Colorado 80501. A committal service will occur Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 10:30 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado 80236.
