Syndi was born in Atlantic, IA and was raised in Omaha, NE. She attended Omaha South High School and Iowa State University.
She married John Pritchard on December 6, 1986. When their first child arrived, Syndi became a full-time mother, a role she not only cherished, but fantastically excelled at.
Syndi embodied the light of Christ. She was always joyful, selfless, loving, compassionate, funny, kind, empathetic, and nurturing in every aspect of her life. Her heart was bigger than this world.
As a Daughter of Christ
Syndi prayed the rosary daily and had an incredible devotion to Our Lady. Her faith was clearly visible to everyone she encountered, and she brought many back to the church.
As a Daughter
Syndi was a devoted daughter, including joyfully and willingly caring for Petra and Klive through their long end-of-life illnesses. She called her mom every day of her adult life. She continued to serve through repeated trips to Omaha to check on and care for Jim, family, and friends.
As a Wife
Syndi and John started dating their sophomore year of high school and had been together ever since, 47 years. They were absolute soulmates which was presaged by Syndi’s first words to John, “Do you want to be my husband?” Syndi adored John and the life they created together. And she selflessly cared for John and supported his career and other pursuits. She was the light of his life.
As a Mother
Syndi was always present for Jenn and Ryan. She never missed a practice, game, recital, or a Sacrament. She was a light to them, creating a loving and nurturing home for them to grow deep in their faith and love for those around them. That home extended into their adult lives as evidenced by daily calls, and her continued nurturing and love for them and their spouses.
As a Grandmother
Syndi was an incredible Mimi to her 9 grandchildren whom she adored, cared for, and nurtured. She was ever-present for every moment of their lives from the day they were born, to the day she went home. From the mundane of feeding, changing, or picking them up from school to the more visible of never missing a birthday party, recital, game, or Sacrament, she was always joyfully present for her grandchildren both in Colorado and Oklahoma.
As a Friend
Syndi was not only always available to her friends, but she frequently reached out to check on them. She provided endless hours of conversation or support whenever they needed. She went above and beyond the expectations of a normal friend in the ways she constantly loved them, supported them, gifted them, and prayed for them.
As a Disciple
Syndi was a prolific volunteer to include Marisol, Steven Ministries, Mentor Moms, and many other ministries. She always embodied the light of Jesus to complete strangers in her innate way to read and connect emotionally with anyone. She always modeled her faith so her interaction with strangers often led to joyful and loving encounters. Everyone who interacted with Syndi felt special.
Her family firmly believes her heart was too big for this world, so she was called home early during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Saturday May 9th.
Syndi is survived by husband John, two children and nine grandchildren and her father. Son Ryan and his wife Christine and their children Abigail, Clare, Dominic, Christopher, and daughter Jenn, her husband Austin, their children Aidan, Thea, Raleigh, Amelia, Leona. Father Jim Schmidt.
