Teresa was born and raised in Longmont, Colorado, by her mother, Nancy Castanon. She grew up alongside two brothers and four sisters in a close-knit family that leaned on one another through life’s challenges and rejoiced together in its blessings. The bond they shared carried through her life and remained a source of strength and comfort.
A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Teresa was a devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She dedicated many years of service as a receptionist since March of 1999, becoming a beloved and familiar presence within the parish. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and willingness to help others made her a true pillar of the community. She had a special way of making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and at peace.
Outside of her work, Teresa found joy in the simple and beautiful gifts of God’s creation. She cherished time spent admiring Colorado’s mountains, appreciating nature’s beauty, and taking delight in the animals she encountered. These quiet moments reflected her peaceful spirit and deep appreciation for life.
Above all, Teresa was a loving and devoted mother who raised four beautiful children in a home filled with faith, compassion, and unconditional love. She stood by her children through every season of life, offering guidance, encouragement, and constant prayer. Her children remember her as loving, amazing, and kindhearted, a woman whose strength and grace shaped the lives of those she loved most.
She is survived by her children: Belem DeLaHoya, Jose DeLaHoya (Tina), Fabian Castanon, and Ismael Cuevas, her siblings: Pete Castanon (Grace); Raymond Castanon (Annette); Marcella Hernandez (Alfonso), Josie Venzor and her grandchildren: Izaah DeLaHoya and Octavios Castanon.
She was preceded in death by her mother and her sisters Christine Medina and Mary Orona.
Teresa’s life was a reflection of her faith, her love for her family, and her compassion for others. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and in the community she so faithfully served.
