Thomas R Tom"" Smallwood

Tom was born August 6, 1921 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tom enlisted in the United States Army in December of 1939 and was honorably discharged in June of 1945 after serving in World War II in Central Europe, Normandy and northern France.

He married Nadine DeFrance on February 7, 1942 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. After moving to Longmont they owned and operated Smallwood Paints in downtown Longmont for thirty years.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Nadine Smallwood, a stepsister, Lois Koeppel and stepbrother, Fant Hulsey and a son-in-law, Robert M. Stratton.

Tom is survived by his daughter Sandra Stratton Thornburg and her husband Ken of Fernandina Beach, FL. two grandchildren Tamra Groth (Fred) of Gould, CO and Todd Stratton (Angelina) of Lakewood, CO, and one great grandchild, Zachary Groth.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, at the Howe Mortuary, Longmont. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 4, at Howe Mortuary with Chaplain John Smith Luntz officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family would like Memorial contributions be made to Family Hospice, 1790 30th Street, Boulder, CO 80301.
