
Van Rex Moorhead, age 78, passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones at his home in Longmont, Colorado, on Monday, October 28, 2024, following an accelerated bout with cancer. Mr. Moorhead was born on July 6, 1946, in Lima, Ohio, to Rex and Gene (Bear) Moorhead, among the first of his baby boom generation.
Van is survived by his true love and wife of 40 years, Cynthia (McKay), precious daughters Keely (Caleb
Pellouchoud) of Longmont, and Hannah (Met Nagatani) of Arvada, and his adored grandchildren, Denali
and Rex Pellouchoud, and Bear and Sylas Nagatani. He is also survived by his three younger siblings,
Gaye Moorhead, RSM, of Rochester, New York, Ted, of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Jay of Newark, Delaware.
An economics graduate of Colorado State University, Van held a wide variety of management positions at different Colorado manufacturing companies prior to his retirement in 2014.
Having grown as an Air Force Brat in the 1950s and 1960s, living in in multiple states as well as in Japan,
Van was an eclectic, active, participant in life. He was adept playing guitar, loved hiking, writing, and
documenting with his videography his cherished family at every opportunity. Van’s calm demeanor, dry
sense of humor, and rapier wit will be missed, but never forgotten.
Cremation is entrusted to Howe Mortuary & Crematory of Longmont, Colorado.
