

Vincent ?Vince? John Sciortino of Longmont, died Sunday, May 20, 2007 at HospiceCare in Louisville, Colorado, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 73.Vince was born on August 6, 1933 in Chicago to Vincent Charles Sciortino and Columbia Farace. He was raised in Chicago and graduating from Lakeview High School, where he was a quarterback. He continued to play football at Iowa Wesleyan for two years before being drafted by the U.S. Army. He served in Germany from 1953-55. He married Maureen Kay on July 26, 1975 in Deerfield, Illinois.Mr. Sciortino worked with Motorola for 25 years. He moved to Longmont in 1993 from Chicago and joined Ionic Fusion Corporation, producing enhanced surface application, specializing in the medical field. He served as Senior Vice President of sales until his retirement in 2006.Among his many passions were jazz and cycling.Preceding him in death are his parents, and a brother, Nicholas Sciortino. Surviving are his wife of Longmont; a son, David (Michelle) Harrold of Delray Beach, FL; two daughters, Kimberly (Scott) Swanson of Boca Raton, FL, and Brenda (Brian) Laartz of Longmont; a sister, Marie Ekstam of Chicago; a sister-in-law, Emily Sciortino of Longmont; grandchildren, Brooke and Brianna Laartz, Ashley, Brandon, Zachary Harrold and Gregory and Grant Swanson. Also surviving are sister-in-laws Susan (Dean) Gruver of Waterloo, Iowa, Sandra (Gary) Woodworth of Charles City, Iowa and Sharon Cline of Mason City, Iowa, a brother-in-law Larry (Peggy) Kay of Charles City, Iowa; his nieces, Jacqueline, Claudia, and Michelle; and nephews, Vincent and Michael Sciortino and Leonard and Vincent Aluise.A cremation has been entrusted to the Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.
