He was born on May 13, 1934, in Alliance, Nebraska, to Murna Cox and William Broderick. William graduated from Alliance High School in 1952 and went on to attend Greeley State Teachers College in Fort Collins, Colorado, graduating in 1956.
Following college, William joined the U.S. Navy and completed Officer Candidate School (OCS), serving four years on active duty. He then continued his service in the Navy Reserve for an additional 20 years, ultimately retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Commander, a distinction he held with great pride.
During his time in the reserves, William began a 33-year teaching career in Great Falls, Montana. While teaching, he also pursued further education at the University of Colorado Boulder, earning a master’s degree in education. After retiring from his position in Great Falls, he moved to Longmont, Colorado, in 1991. There, he continued his passion for teaching by working in adult education for the St. Vrain Valley School District for 16 years.
On July 26, 1968, William married the love of his life, Nellie Pacini. They shared many wonderful years together.
William was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, his father and stepmother, his wife and his stepson Greg. He is survived by his daughter Cathy Jensen (Bill); grandchildren Chris Pike (Laura), Courtney Jacobsen, and Ryan Jacobsen; his sister Beverly Meszaros (Mick); numerous half-brothers and a stepsister; and many nieces and nephews.
