

William G. Brotherton, 82, of Longmont, CO, died April 1, 2006 at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville.William was born on September 9, 1923 in Reading, Ohio to Lester and Alma (Lantry) Brotherton. He grew up and attended school in Reading. William served in the United States Navy during World War II stationed in the South Pacific. He attained the rank of Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class by the time he was discharged.William married Virginia M. Matre on November 14, 1953 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He worked for over 20 years for the Monsanto Corporation as a supervisor. William was an avid golf player and also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Bill and his wife moved to Longmont in 2004.His wife and parents and one brother, Robert Brotherton, preceded Mr. Brotherton in death.He is survived by three sons: Mark Brotherton of Thornton, CO, Michael Brotherton and his wife Beth, and Bill Brotherton and his wife Beth, both of Jamestown, CO; a daughter, Sharon Brotherton of Aurora, CO; three grandchildren: Erin, Jacob, and Meredith; two brothers: Noel Brotherton and his wife Pat of Sharonville, Ohio and Richard Brotherton and his wife Josephine of Reading, Ohio; and two sisters: Jean Kramer of Sharonville, Ohio and Patricia Harmeyer and her husband James of Reading, Ohio.Visitation at 9 a.m., followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2006 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Reading, Ohio. Inurnment will take place at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery in Reading.Donations may be given to Hospice of Boulder and Broomfield Counties, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, CO 80026.
