

William “Bill” Andrew Loomis (79) passed away Friday afternoon in his home surrounded by friends and family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born March 31st, 1939 in Boulder, CO to his parents Mary Loomis and Howard Loomis.
Bill was a lifetime resident of the Longmont/Boulder area. In his youth Bill participated in Boy Scouts of America.
He loved spending time with his family camping and fishing. One of their favorite spots to go camping and fishing was in Saratoga, WY.
Bill carried on this tradition of camping in Saratoga with his own family for many years.
Bill attended Whitter Elementary School & Casey Jr. High school in Boulder.
Bill was a very talented wrestler and got to excel at his sport as he participated on his high school wrestling team. He graduated in 1957 from Boulder High School. He went on to attended CSU for a year where he wrestled on their college team. After a year of college Bill decided to enroll in the United States Army where he served for 3 years.
Bill married the love of his life Barbara Joanne Nieciecki on September 1st, 1962 in the First Methodist Church. Bill and Barbara were blessed with 3 wonderful children Bryan, Brenda and Brent.
Bill and Barbara made a home in Boulder until a year after their youngest child Brent was born when they decided to move to Longmont where they had a home built. This home has served to be a gathering place for their ever-growing family, where countless memories have been made over the 48 years that they resided there.
Bill had a successful career as a pipefitter and contributed to the success of many projects such as the IBM building in Boulder, CO and Invesco Field at Mile High. He had very strong work ethic.
A devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Bill shared his strong testimony of Jesus Christ through the love and service that he gave to others.
He loved his family and friends with all of his heart and was always willing to help them in any way that he could.
In his spare time you could find Bill spending time with his family and friends, tying flies, camping, fishing, working out and volunteering at the local hospital.
Bill loved to laugh and tell jokes, he had a great sense of humor. He also loved to write poems which he shared with his wife and family on special occasions. Bill was a man of great character. He was a devoted father and friend and will be missed very much by those who knew and loved him.
Bill was preceded in death by his mother Mary Loomis and his father Howard Loomis.
Bill is survived by his wife Barbara Joanne, His brother Howard “Pug” Loomis (Barbara), His daughter Brenda May Loomis (Kent), son Bryan Andrew Loomis, son Brent Raymond Loomis(Tina), 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Bill’s Legacy was one of kindness and dedication to those he cared about. His wonderful legacy will live on for many generations to come.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 10:45 am on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Church of Latter Day Saints, Stake Center. Services will follow at 11:00 am on the same day. Burial will be at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
