Dr. William Robert Spies passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at The University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born April 3, 1971 in Omaha, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his father William Arlen Spies.
Bill attended local schools in Longmont. He received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, his master’s degree from Regis University, Denver, CO, and PhD in Psychology from Adams State University, Alamosa, Colorado.
Prior to his death, Bill worked at ProtoCall Services in Albuquerque and taught classes at Adams State University in Alamosa, CO. ProtoCall is a crisis call center created to help people suffering emotional difficulty. He will be remembered as a great humanitarian who lived his life to help others, his lovable sense of humor, and his extraordinary compassion for anybody in psychological need.
Bill is survived by his mother Virginia Donahue of Longmont; a son, Vincent Crowson, of Waco, TX, two sisters; Susan Spies, of Longmont CO, Laura Spies, of Ft. Collins CO; several nieces and nephews, and the love of his life, Karla Vasquez, of Rio Rancho, NM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11am on Saturday October 29, 2022, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry Street, in Longmont, CO 80501. With a reception to follow the service at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
