He was born on January 10, 1950, to the late Peewee "Henry" and Bernice (Riddle) Tate in Louisville, Kentucky. Charlie proudly served his country in the US Army Air Assault in Germany. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman who loved boating, camping, and playing all kinds of sports and games. Whether he was sipping a cold Miller Lite in a can, telling his signature “dad jokes”, or enjoying the Kentucky Derby, he loved being around people. Above all, he cherished slow dancing with his wife, daughter, daughter-in-law, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Charlie was a family man who loved dearly and deeply - he is leaving a void in the hearts of all that knew him!
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Darien Tate; brother and sister-in-law, Bobby Tate (Bessie).
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Diana Tate; children, Divana Tate (Eric Smalley), Scott Tate (Paula); grandchildren, Kristia Butcher (Shawn), Dakota Gomez (Kaitlyn), Taylor Tate (Hunter Johnson), Darius Tate (Hailey); great-grandchildren, Kyler Gomez, Grayson Blevins, Railynn Blevins, Harper Gomez, Gracie Johnson, Jayden Ryan; siblings, Butchy "Henry" Tate, Brenda Lane, Nancy French, Cookie "Donald" Tate (Kathy), Johnny Tate (Donna); several extended family members and wonderful friends.
Charlie's family requests all to wear blue to honor his love of the University of Kentucky Wildcats!
