Don was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, a proud U.S. Army veteran, and later started his 27 year career at Ford Motor Company, where he retired as a technician. He was a lifelong car enthusiast and loved spending time in his garage keeping his cars in perfect condition. He enjoyed playing basketball, fishing, and listening to music. He loved to travel, with Costa Rica holding a special place in his heart; it was there he met Yolanda, the mother of his son, and her five children whom he loved and cared for. (Jeankeny, Karla, Raquel, Isabel, Nancy)
Preceding him in death are his parents, Laura Esther Keith and Ernest Elby Thompson, as well as William Robert Adkins, who helped raise him, his brother-in-law, Bill Beeler, and his half-brother, Ernest “Penny” Thompson.
Don will be remembered by his two sisters, Sally Beeler and Lue Mckeehan (Larry), his son, Don Thompson Araya (Jackie), as well as multiple friends and family members including nieces and nephews.
