Emil "Butch" Prestis

Emil George “Butch” Prestis Jr., age 72, of Louisville; returned to his heavenly father Thursday, July, 20th 2017 at Norton women’s and children hospital after a short battle with leukemia, with his children by his side. He was born in Paterson N.J, to the late Emil George and Alice (Degoot) Prestis. Where his parents ran a sporting good and gas station; he spent his childhood learning about and working on cars and eventually acquired a love for Corvettes. He spent most of his adulthood in Vineland N.J where he married.

He worked most of his life owning a small Contracting business, which gave him the freedom to raise four children and traveling to BMX (bicycle moto cross) tracks across the United States. This led him to spending the last years of his life in Kentucky.

He is preceded in death by his father, Emil George Prstis Sr; mother Alice (Degroot) Prestis; and brother William. He is survived by his brother, Ronald and his wife Mary (Vineland); his four children Alisa (Ron) Mann, of Las Vegas N.V, Paul Kim) Prestis, of Charlotte. N.C; Laurie (Randy) Megrew, of Shepherdsville K.Y; Kim (Chris) LaRue, of MT Washington K.Y. His six grandchildren; Trevor, Kyle, Sydney, Taylor, Camryn and Madison.

A Celebration of life for Emil will be Tuesday July 25, 2017, 10:00AM at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church 5431 Johnsontown Rd, Louisville KY. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday July 24, 2017 from 2:00PM to 8:00PM at Advantage Funeral Home Hardy Chapel, 10907 Dixie Highway, Louisville, KY 40272. Family has chosen cremation. The family asks that donations go to the St. Peter of the Apostle Catholic Church.
