

Gary was born on May 11, 1946, in Vinita, Oklahoma. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1964. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
Gary dedicated 38 years of his life to working as a butcher at the Kroger Meat Plant and later retired from the Kroger Store in Bullitt County. He was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and the friendships he formed throughout his career.
Gary was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia; son, Stan; his parents, Mable and Elmo; his brothers, Kelly, Ancil, Norbert (Wayne), Dewayne, and Lloyd; his sisters, Wynona Holladay and Paula Winters.
He is survived by his sister, Clarene; son, Gary Brent Simmons (Christina); his daughter, DeAnna Burnett (John); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Gary will be remembered for his kindness, gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and the love he showed to everyone he encountered. His legacy of compassion and devotion will live on through all who knew and loved.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Advantage Funeral Home - Hardy Chapel, 10907 Dixie Highway, 40272, in Louisville, Kentucky, from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Bethany Memorial Cemetery.
