John worked for more than 25 years at Churchill Downs. He was a hard worker, a great gardener, farmer, and mechanic who loved caring for his animals, including chickens and horses.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret, his grandmother who raised him after his mother passed, and his aunt Avera.
Though he didn’t have children of his own, he was always there to help, teach, and make a difference in the lives of those around him. He is survived through his teachings and by his adopted grandchildren, Forrest Michael Fluhr and Hunter Michelle Fluhr, who will always remember the skills and lessons he shared.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
