June 15, 1959 – July 20, 2025
Johnny B. Gean, 66, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, at the VA Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on June 15, 1959, in Ludwigsburg, Germany, Johnny was a man of quiet strength, deep compassion, and unwavering loyalty. He honorably served in the United States Army from 1977 to 1982, where he was recognized as a decorated sharpshooter and hand grenade expert. His military service marked the beginning of a life defined by dedication, grit, and love for others.
Johnny was a true jack of all trades—an Army veteran, long-haul truck driver, DIY specialist, and Harley enthusiast. He took immense pride in owning his home, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and stability for his daughters. Above all, he was a man who loved deeply and gave generously.
He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Ann Gean-Herrick and Jessica Marie Perry (Grant Perry); five grandchildren, Nikki Gean, Elizabeth Gean, Johnathan Gean, Asheton Perry, and Urijah Perry; two great-grandchildren, Oaklynn Gean and Grayson Purvis; and his siblings, Ramona Gean and Michael Gean (Brandy Gean).
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Erika Gean.
Those who knew Johnny will remember his unfailing patience, his kind and helping spirit, and the way he truly lived out the words “love your neighbor as yourself.” He gave without hesitation, loved without condition, and lived without pretense.
He was deeply loved and will be severely missed by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
“For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.”
—Jeremiah 31:25 (NLT)
