

Martha was born in Hodgenville, Kentucky, to the late Milton Lee and Ruby Sloan. Martha went on to serve as a dedicated federal employee at the Jax Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida, and Naval Ordnance in Louisville, Kentucky, before retiring. While working at Naval Ordnance, she had the opportunity to attend classes at the University of Louisville.
Martha found great joy in spending time with her family and grandchildren. She loved quilting, crafting, attending concerts, listening to music, and sharing laughter. She especially cherished the excitement of The Kentucky Derby and its festivities. Her beloved pets, a Yorkie named Pixie and a cat named Gracie, brought her endless happiness.
In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Desco Dean Flick; her brothers, Gerald, Jesse, and Frank Sloan; her son-in-law, Buddy Stroupe; her daughters in law, Donna J. Ragar and Marsha Flick; and her grandson, Carl Rogers.
She is survived by her sons, Douglas Rogers (Jammie), Michael Rogers, James Rogers (Susan), Kevin Flick (Susan), Jeffrey Flick, (Maria) and Thomas Flick; her daughters, LaDonna Rogers Stroupe and Kathy Weathers (James); her brother, Michael Sloan (Cathy); Martha also leaves behind a host of cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including Joey Hightower, who will be officiating Martha’s service.
Martha will be remembered for her warm spirit, love for her family, and the joy she brought to everyone who knew her.
A visitation for Martha will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 10907 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40272. A funeral will occur Friday, May 2, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Advantage Funeral Home. A burial will follow the funeral service at Bethany Memorial Cemetery located at 10907 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, Kentucky 40272.
