He was a retired line worker from Brown and Williamson and had worked at Action Waste and Waste Management.
Richard was an avid U of K fan and was on the crew for Yardstick Racing at the Fairgrounds Sportsdrome.
He is survived by his son, Richard Johnson, Jr.; and a sister, Gloria White; and nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be 2pm Saturday, April 12, at the Heady-Hardy Funeral Home, 7710 Dixie Highway, with cremation to follow. Visiting will be from 10am until the 2pm.
