

He was born in Louisville to the late Louis and Irene Maynard. Ronald lived a full and joyful life, always happiest when surrounded by family. A proud veteran of the Kentucky Army National Guard, he served his state and country as a Staff Sergeant specializing in communications. He was also a devoted member of Incarnation Catholic Church. Ronald held the honor of being a Kentucky Colonel and was a member of several organizations including the Louisville Metro Police Officers Association, Jefferson County Sheriff Lodge #25, Incarnation Senior Club, and American Legion Lodge #39.
A gifted mechanical mind, Ronald could fix just about anything. He was a machinist at Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company and later worked at B&W Chairlift where he became a master mechanical engineer while working there, he transitioned to Superior Van and Mobility where he later retired. His creativity showed in his hobbies — he loved oil painting, wood carving, and gardening. He was especially proud of his tomato plants and insisted on eating the first ripe tomato every year — a tradition he took very seriously.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Louis Maynard Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, JoAnn Maynard; his daughters Debra Jo Maynard, Terry Hawkins (Kevin), and Patti Whitaker (Christopher); grandchildren James Maynard (Linda), Amanda Priddy (John), Mindy Griffith (Josh), Stacy Livers (Matt), Jamie Pendleton (Brian), Kalee Stevenson (Tyler), and Branden Maynard (Alexandria); bonus grandchildren Alexandria, Ashley, and Kayla; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Ronald will be remembered for his service, his sense of humor, his talents, and his deep love for his family.
A visitation for Ronald will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Advantage Funeral Home, 10907 Dixie Hwy, Louisville, KY.
Visitation and final viewing will resume at Advantage Funeral Home, Monday, May 19, 2025 from 9:00 AM-9:30 AM, after, family and friends will process from the funeral home to Incarnation Catholic Church located at 2229 Lower Hunters Trace, Louisville, KY. 40258 for Funeral Mass starting at 10:00 AM
Entombment will follow after mass to Evergreen Cemetery, 4623 Preston Hwy, Louisville, KY, at 12:00 PM.
