

Services for Anola Gay (Pru) Brooks, 61, of Pollok will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Mrs. Karen Shumaker and Tammy Simms officiating. Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery.
Pru was born January 27, 1953 in Liberty, Texas, the daughter of the late Helen and Harold McClendon. She passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Mrs. Brooks resided in Pollok for the last 31 years. She attended school at Leverett’s Chapel and graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was employed at Central Elementary School as a teacher for 19 years.
Survivors include her loving husband of 31 years, Garland Brooks; son and daughter-in-law, Roper and Miranda Brooks; daughter and son-in-law, Joshlyn and Howell (Tre) Jackson; grandson, Jameson Brooks; granddaughters, Kyleigh Anola Brooks and Braeleigh Dawn Jackson; sisters, Brenda Smith and Barbara Arent; sister and brother-in-law, Ada and Ernie Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Wayne McClendon.
Pallbearers will be Tanner Brooks, Bryan Brooks, Jason Smith, Cody McClendon, Kyle Beauchamp and Darryl Duff.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
