Bennie Don Manley

Services for Major Bennie Don Manley, USAF Ret’d., 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jimmy Hedges officiating. Interment will follow in Fielders Cemetery.

Major Manley was born May 5, 1933 in Lufkin to parents, Bennie McKinley and Madge (Mann) Manley. He passed away on October 24, 2018 in Duncan, Oklahoma. Don graduated from Lufkin High School in 1951 and from Stephen F. Austin University in 1957. Major Manley proudly served his country in both the US Air Force and US Army.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Maxine Manley of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gene Barker of Sugar Land and Pamela and Todd Dean of Comanche, OK; son and daughter-in-law, David and Angie Manley of Manassas, VA; grandchildren, Jeremy and Heather Barker, Joshua and Jessica Barker, Re’Anne and Jerry Bogle, Matthew Dean, Rebekah and Dane Smith, Rachel Manley, Mark Manley, John Manley, Michael Manley, Mary Manley, and Bridget Manley; 10 great-grandchildren: Luke Barker, Kinlee Bogle, Rayelyn Smith, Brycen Dean, Sophia Manley, Eli Barker, Canyon Bogle, Cayden Smith, Joshua Barker, and Stryker Smith; nephew, Jason Manley; and niece, Cindy Corn; along with numerous other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Major Manley is preceded in death by his son, Jon Frederick Manley; great-granddaughter, Noa Marie Barker and a unnamed great-grandchild born to Re’ and Jerry Bogle; and brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Alice Manley.

Major Manley’s grandsons will be serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include his great-grandsons and grandsons-in-law.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
