Bertie Belle Williford

Bertie Belle Parrish Williford “B’ma”, 94, of Lufkin was born June 22, 1930 in Homer, Texas. She passed away April 27, 2025 in Lufkin. After graduating Lufkin High School in 1947, she attended and graduated from Satterwhite Commercial College in 1948. Bertie spent numerous years working in local banks and completed her career in 1986 as a Financial Secretary at Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

After finishing her career, she spent countless years traveling across the United States with her late husband Delbert. She was a member of Volunteer Christian Builders, Angelina Good Sam RV Club, and Denman Avenue Baptist Church where she was a part of the Hope Sunday School Class.

She was an avid reader and passionate football fan of the Lufkin Panthers, Baylor Bears, and Arkansas Razorbacks. In April 2024, Baylor University awarded her the distinction of Alumni By Choice for her passionate support of all things Baylor.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Finally, upon her request she wanted it known that she was born a Democrat and died a Democrat and she was proud of it.

Bertie is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Teressa Williford of Coppell; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Ann and Mike Tyler of Lufkin; sister, LaVenia Morgan of Sunnyvale; sisters-in-law, Margie Rice and Molly Jo Avery of Lufkin; grandchildren, Chris and Kendra Williford of Katy, Christie and Chandler Wright of Rowlett, Emily Tyler of Temple, and Molly and Ricardo Palacios of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members who she dearly loved.

Bertie was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Delbert Williford; her parents John Henry Parrish and Beulah Haygood Murchison; brothers-in-law Bill Morgan, J.T. Rice, and Leonard Avery.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Steve Bolt, Ricardo Palacios, Mike Rice, Bob Waltman, Chris Williford, and Chandler Wright

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Denman Avenue Baptist Church Music Fund or to Hospice in the Pines.
