Betty Ruth (West) Stanley was born on February 18, 1938, in Woodville, Texas, to Riley and Lela West. She passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, in her home in Zavalla, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Kitchens Cemetery.
Betty will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, her love of home and family, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who knew her. She drove a school bus for Zavalla ISD for 36 years and considered every child on her bus to be one of her own. She cherished her time behind the wheel and felt that getting those kids home safely was a privilege.
Betty’s relationship with Jesus was one that we should all aspire to have. Her faith could move mountains — and did, many times.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Stanley; her parents; sisters, Juanita Thompson and Alice Spivey; brothers, Bobby and Bill West; and her son, Tim Stanley.
She is survived by her sons, David Stanley and wife Belinda, Druey Stanley and wife Robin, and Jack Stanley and wife Sharlie; grandchildren, Kaela Mann, T.J. Stanley, Druey Stanley Jr., Amy Carter, Eli Joiner, Jaclyn Stanley, Sara Stanley, John Stanley, Riley Stanley, Madi Stanley, Courtney Bowman, Kaley Bardwell, and Kelsey Butler; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Carlton Lewis and staff, and to Affinity Hospice, for their exceptional care and compassion.
