Beverly June Hopson, of Lufkin, TX, passed away on May 18, 2024, at the age of 83. Born on July 21, 1940, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and animal lover and she found solace and joy in painting throughout her life. Beverly was also an art teacher at Angelina College, where she shared her passion for creativity with her students.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charles Hopson, her mother Jimmie Thomson, grandmother Norah Colwell, and her brother Michael Thomson.
Beverly is survived by her son, Richard Hopson of Galveston; daughter, Charlcie Johnson of Lufkin; son, BeJa and wife Jeanievev Hopson of Lufkin; brother, Jimmy Thomson of Port Arthur; and brother, Johny Elton Thomson of Tomball; as well as 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, from 2pm to 3pm, followed by a Celebration of Beverly's life at 3pm, both at Gipson Funeral Home in Lufkin, TX. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Zavalla Cemetery.
Beverly will be deeply missed and remembered fondly by all who knew her.
