Ms. York taught me Chemistry at Hudson in 1962-1963.  She would tell us fhat we could not memorize our way through this class!  She was absolutely right.  I loved her and  the way she presented the material was quite awesome to me.  She was quite the lady with poise, confidence and a great love of her subject matter.  More than all that she had such care and love for all her students.  Now, she has embarked on her last journey.  I hope to see her again. 

Ms. York was my mother's former roommate at Pine Crest.  She was a real sweet lady.  She will be missed.

I feel like a piece of me has died along with Ms. York's passing.  I was in her art classes at LHS and learned so much from her.  She was kind, patient and understanding. She was also my saving grace during the last half of my senior year.  What a wonderful human being the world has lost!

R.I.P. Miss York.  She was such a wonderful teacher.  Art was my favorite class because of her.  My senior year I was privileged to be one of her assistants.  I enjoyed visiting with her when in Lufkin after graduation.  She was a fine and kind lady.  She will be greatly missed.  Luv ya, Miss York.

One would like to know that when they leave this world, they made a difference. Ms. York,you made a BIG difference in the lives of many.

Miss York was one of my very favorite teachers at Hudson 1961. Lucky for me she taught science also as an artist I was not meant to be.  My only regret is that I did not write this while she lived.

I loved Miss York's art class. She even made me like "art appreciation" - learning about all the masters. Even though I wasn't the best artist, she made me feel good about myself. And I do love art to this day. I will miss her so much.
Senior '72

Ms. York was a special lady and an inspiration to me. She was an excellant teacher. She shared her love of art with all of her students. Ms. York will always remain in our hearts.

Miss York was my art teacher at Lufkin High School 1979-82. Her class was my favorite all 3 years of high school, and she continues to influence that I still enjoy and create art today. I always enjoyed her stories about her travels, and was inspired by her stories to travel and I have done my share at this point. She  always remembered me when I would see her around town through the years. She will be missed.

She helped a lot of Knuckle head kids get a grip and appreciate art.
She also had a lot to do with the drama dept. Sets /props
And Jesus too !!  Great Legacy.

Thank you, Miss York, for being a wonderful, loving, inspiring teacher. I became an art teacher too, hoping to be the kind of teacher you were. My deepest sympathies to your family and loved ones.

Miss York was my Art Teacher at Lufkin High School.I loved her classes and had the priviledge of being one of her Lab Assistants during my senior year in 1970. It was because of her encouragement that I became an Art Teacher. I am retiring this year after 21 years of teaching art. I have spent 17 years in HS, 3 in Elementary, and one year teaching Middle School Art. THANK YOU Ms.York! I owe you so much!

Please know that Miss York was one of my favorite teachers and influenced me greatly.  Not only did see encourage my love of art, but she introduced me to the art of set design.  I ended up minoring in theatre in college.  I have thought of her often over the years.

Billye and my mother, Marie (Wright) Fancher, were first cousins.  I always enjoyed visits with her because she told so many interesting stories about her life.  I admired her because she was an intelligent, interesting person and a kind and gracious lady. Merril and I send our condolences.

Aunt Lou Ray,I am so sorry for your loss.Miss Billye was such an inspiration to me.High School was a difficult time for me,then Miss Billye took me under her wing and helped me be a stronger person.I was very lucky to have known her.

Miss York was one of my favorite teachers.  I still have some of my art projects from her art class in the mid-60's.  She was always so kind and encouraging and had a great sense of humor.

A great and pleasant lady.  One of the reasons I became an art teacher.

Lou Ray, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Billye was a wonderful lady. I am thinking of you and your family during this time.  My prayers are with you. Love you and think about you often.

I had the great fortune to be taught by this great lady.  I was a student of her's during the early years of her career at Hudson.  She taught me biology and Chemistry and I got the privilege to serve as a lab assistant for her.  She was a fantastic teacher but so much more than that, she was a loving and caring person who cared dearly for her students.  Rest in peace Miss York, you were an inspiration to so very many of us.

Billye was my freshman science teacher at Hudson High School in 1956-57.  She was a kind person and an excellant teacher of whom I have very fond memories. May she rest in peace.


Miss York was my second grade teacher in Zavalla. As well as being a great teacher I thought she was so elegant.  I can see her now standing at the door of the second grade class almost always dressed in a suit.  She brought so much into my life and I am grateful.
