

Services for Bonnie N. Jones, 96, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Mark Livingston officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jones was born May 16, 1917 in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Georgia Ann (Dias) and Ben Baker. She passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2014 in a local hospice facility.
Mrs. Jones loved her family. She attended school at Central and married Emil S. Jones Sr. in 1935. She raised her family and then went to food supervisor school and was a supervisor for a nursing facility for 11 years. She worked for the U. S. Forestry Service for 17 years. Mrs. Jones received her GED while in her 70s. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, growing plants, and traveling. She was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church, where she kept the nursery for 28 years.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Mayes and husband Charles of Lufkin; daughter, Wilma Jordan and husband Hoople of Alto, New Mexico; son, Emil Jones Jr. and wife Peggy of Lufkin; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2-great-great grandchildren; sister, Sadie Denton of Pollok; and a number of other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband, Emil S. Jones Sr.; sisters, Lila Bargainer and Iva Tucker; and brothers, Bennie Baker and Watts Moody Baker.
Pallbearers will be John Jones, Billy Wicker, Kevin Murray, Taylor Jordon, Kody Jones, and Wesley Norwood.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
