

Carolyn (Brown) Harpe Franks, 68, of Lufkin, was born October 7, 1942 in Lufkin, Texas, the daughter of the late Stella Fae "Bubbie" (Jones) and Albert Jewel "AJ" Brown. She passed away Monday, September 12, 2011 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Franks was a secretary for the United States Air Force, the FAA, Social Security Administration, and personal secretary to Perry Allgood at Holland Sales. She was a pianist and had a beautiful voice. She traveled to churches with her family as a youth where she sang with her father and sister. She also played the piano at church when she was active. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Terri Harpe Henderson and husband Ralph of McDonough, Georgia; son, Everett Michael Harpe of Lufkin; brother, Barney Scott Brown and wife Cara of Baltimore, Maryland; sister, Betty Fae Sewell of Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Megan Mills and husband Kevin of Stockbridge, Georgia and Matthew Payne of McDonough, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Kyley Mills; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Franks was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Franks.
Graveside services for Mrs. Franks will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2011 in the Narrow-Way Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
