

Mass of Christian Burial for Carolyn Sue Hendrick, 70, of Lufkin, will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Joe Kannampuzha, M.S., celebrant. Inurnment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Ms. Hendrick was born July 14, 1943 in Clarksville, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Dortha Syble (Wilhelm) and William Truman Moore. She passed away Sunday, December 29, 2013 in a local hospice facility.
Ms. Hendrick was a retired minister. She attained her Associate of Science Degree from Angelina College, her Bachelor of Science in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, and Master of Divinity from Southern Methodist University. Her ministerial career was preceded with several years of teaching. She taught reading, art, and music at St. Patrick Catholic Church, then was a Certified Language Therapist at St. Cyprian’s Episcopal School. As an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church – Texas Conference, Reverend Hendrick served as pastor of First United Methodist Church in Big Sandy, First United Methodist Church in Newton, Winterfield United Methodist Church in Longview and Chapelwood United Methodist Church in Houston. She was the recipient of the Denman Evangelism Award and the Bishop’s Award. As a religious writer, she published “A Little Light Please”, a newspaper column and “S.T.E.P.S”, a church growth plan.
Survivors include her daughter, Dortha Hendrick Jackson (Stephen); son, Richard Alan Hendrick; sisters, Billie Anna Patterson (Bill), Patricia Garrett (Robert) and Betty White (Ronald); brothers-in-law, Max Hendrick III (MaDonna) and Dr. Edward Hendrick (Jeannie); grandson, Stephen Paul Jackson (Cortney) and their daughter, Macee Jo; granddaughter, Charlotte Sue Jackson; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Ms. Hendrick was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gary Hendrick; mother-in-law, Enid W. Hendrick; and brother, William Truman Moore, Jr.
