Charles O'Daniel Hopson

Services for Charles Hopson, 85, of Lufkin, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 9, 2024 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Blackie Cranford officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.

Mr. Hopson was born April 16, 1939 in Lufkin, the son of the late Ina M. (Landrum) and Hutch Hopson. He passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 in a local nursing facility.

Mr. Hopson was loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was an all-around handy man, worked as a truck driver and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Zavalla Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Hopson of Lufkin; son, Richard Hopson of Galveston; daughter, Charlcie Johnson of Lufkin; son, BeJa and wife Jeanievev Hopson of Lufkin; 5 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; brother, Felix Hopson; sister, Alice Sepulvador; and numerous other family members.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hopson was preceded in death by his brother, James Hopson; and sister, Ruth McInnis.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the funeral home.
