

Charles R. Pruitt was born July 12, 1939 in Ewing, Texas to the late Zenoba (Ellisor) and Jesse (Red) Pruitt. He passed away peacefully at his residence in Homer, Texas on Friday, August 26, 2011. He was surrounded by his loving family as he went to be with the Lord.
Mr. Pruitt was retired from FedEx Freight as a truck driver. He loved to be outdoors fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margie Pruitt of Homer; two sons, Roger and Gary McPhail, both of Homer; grandson, Dustin McPhail of Lufkin; special granddaughter, Kylie Sumrall of Lufkin; sisters, Vertie Pearl Perdue of Frankston and Noba Jean Goodson of Dallas; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roy Lee Pruitt; brothers-in-law, Gene Goodson and Barney Perdue; sister-in-law, Shirley Pruitt; and niece, Sherry Lynn Goodson.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Roach, Bubba Roach, Kenneth Roach, Dustin McPhail, Keith Fenley and Larry Sumrall.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Mr. Pruitt's memory may be made to Affinity Hospice, 4000 S. Medford Drive, Ste. 9W, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
Services for Mr. Pruitt will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2011 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Quincy Martindale officiating. Interment will follow in the Fielder Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 Wednesday at Gipson Funeral Home.
