

Services for Christine Butler Russell, 97, of Lufkin, Texas, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jon Weems officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Mrs. Russell was born July 6, 1920 in San Augustine County, the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bradberry Butler and Thomas Hardy Butler. She passed away Saturday, January 27, 2018 in a Horseshoe Bay, Texas nursing facility.
Mrs. Russell loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing “42” and Bingo, quilting, dancing, visiting casinos, and traveling. Mrs. Russell was the wife of a World War II veteran. She was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and served on the Board in various positions for many years. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-laws, Virginia and Jack Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Markett and Greg Harkinson of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Kim Russell of Marble Falls; five grandchildren, Kris Russell, Kelli Russell, Lauren Harkinson Woodard, Margot Harkinson Warren and Nicole Harkinson Jacobson; five great-grandchildren; sister, Brooksie Sanders of San Augustine; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Russell was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edmund Russell; and two sisters, Tilma Milstead and Fauline Fitzgerald.
Pallbearers will be Kris Russell, Wayne Sanders, Jack Moore, Greg Harkinson, Don Comedy, Tim Lancaster and Doug Elizinga.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
