Services for Cullen L. Vaughn, 94, of Lufkin, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2018 at Denman Avenue Baptist Church, with Pastor Jacob Fitzgerald officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mr. Vaughn was born March 7, 1924 in Diboll (Manning), Texas, the son of the late Lilly Belle (Read) and Jessie Lee Vaughn. He passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at his residence.
Mr. Vaughn was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He worked in ranching and farming for the last half of his life. He enjoyed sports, especially football and hunting. Mr. Vaughn proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and received a Letter of Commendation for bravery under fire. He was a member of Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife, Janis Conner Vaughn; son, Donald Pate Vaughn; daughter, Regina Dell Silliman; son, Dennis Cullen Vaughn; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Dean Vaughn.
Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Palmer, Donald Vaughn, Lance Hall, Mike Jones, and David Shannon. Mr. Vaughn would have wanted Fenley Vaughn and Andy Vaughn to serve as pallbearers, but unfortunately, they preceded him in death.
Honorary pallbearer will be Royce Grimes.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Vaughn’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, 412 S. Third Street, Lufkin, TX 75901; Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75904; or Denman Avenue Baptist Church, 1807 E. Denman Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75901.
The family will receive friends from Noon until service time on Friday at Denman Avenue Baptist Church.
