

Memorial visitation for Donald Dewayne Wright, 70, Lufkin, will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, August 8, 2017 at Gipson Funeral Home. Inurnment services with military honors by the United States Army will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in the Earthman Baytown Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Donald was born February 14, 1947 in Kerr County, Texas, the son of the late Lydia Louise (Turner) and Willie Martin Wright. He passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 in the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Hospital in Houston.
Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Anheuser Busch of Houston.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Sandy Wright of Lufkin; stepdaughter, Misty Shaw and husband Wayne of Monroe, Louisiana; grandchildren, Trenton Daley and wife Katie of Houston, Logan Daley, currently serving as missionary in Johannesburg, South Africa, (hometown Baytown, Texas), and Gaven Daley of Baytown; step-grandson, Cody McKeithen, serving in the United States Navy in Norfolk, Virginia; step-granddaughter, Ashley McKeithen of Virginia Beach, Virginia; step-great-grandson, Noah Vaughn of Morganton, North Carolina; twin brother, Arnold Wright of Lufkin; sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Tommye Wright of Corrigan; brother-in-law, Horace W. “Ken” Kendrick of Hudson; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his first wife, Gale Wright; daughter, Robin Gale Daley; brothers, Gerald, Earl, Edgar, Jerry, John and Leroy Wright; sister, Betty Wright Kendrick; nieces, Vickie Wright Frankens and Mary Wright Hoot; and nephew, Jerry “Bubba” Wright.
Donald’s family wishes to extend special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff members at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Hospital in Houston for the loving care shown to him.
