

Services for Mrs. Eddie Ruth Gray will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2014 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Rick Williams officiating, with Interment to follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Mrs. Eddie Ruth Gray was retired, after 34 years of service, from the Union Pacific (formerly the Southern Pacific) Railroad in Houston, Texas where she served as manager of the Accounting Department. She was a member of the Railroad TCU and Trinity Baptist Church. To all those who knew her, Eddie Ruth Gray was known as loving, honest and kind. She was a willing giver of herself, her energy and her resources to those whom she loved. She always put the needs of those around her before her own. She dearly loved her family, friends, church and her community and she lived her life as an example to others. She was joy and light to her family and friends.
Survivors include her spouse of 55 years, Jack Wendell Gray; her son, Howard Kelly Gray; her daughters and spouses, Stacey and Larry Holcomb of Burke, Texas and Kimberly Gray Silverman and David Silverman of Austin, Texas and Aspen, Colorado; two grandchildren, Grayson Robert Silverman and Madison Summer Silverman; sister, Ruby Hartman of Pineville, Louisiana; sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Paul Samples of Pineville, Louisiana; her nephews and nieces include Edwin Quarles, Ashton and Jenna Quarles and Wiley and Christi Quarles and their two children, Owen and Reed Quarles; as well as nieces and nephews who reside in Louisiana.
Mrs. Eddie Ruth Gray was preceded in death by her mother, Arzora Quarles of Burke; father, Ed Quarles of Burke; sister, Lavern Mixon of LaPorte; brother and sister-in-law, Martha and Haywood Quarles of Burke, Texas; and brother-in-law, Billy Hartman.
Pallbearers will be Grayson Silverman, Luke Holcomb, Wiley Quarles, Edwin Quarles, Gilbert Guerrero, Mr. Hodges, J. W. Byars, and Lynn Bailey.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Faith Class at Trinity Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral home.
Mrs. Eddie Ruth Gray’s commitment to family traditions will be carried on and she will be remembered in the minds and hearts of those who knew and loved her. She was a Christian who loved god and her church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor can be made to the Trinity Baptist Church, Attention Building Fund, 2909 E. Lufkin, Avenue, Lufkin, Texas 75901.
