Edna Earl (Freeman) Flowers

Services for Edna Earl (Freeman) Flowers, 82, of Diboll, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Leo Lytle officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Flowers was born July 13, 1930 in Colmesneil, Texas, the daughter of the late Evy (Barclay) and Roy Freeman. She passed away Monday, December 24, 2012 in a local hospital surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Flowers was a wonderful wife for 65 years, 5 months and 11 days and a loving mother to five children. She had a big heart and would help anyone if they needed help. She loved our family get togethers, having her kids and grandkids, friends and extended family around her. She enjoyed quilting and she had made over 100 lap throws in one year for the VA Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Lester Flowers of Diboll; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Connie Flowers of Lufkin, Jimmy and Mae Flowers of Point Blank; daughters and son-in-law, Joyce Burrous of Diboll, Doris Hammack of Lufkin, Christene and Calvert Lowry of Diboll; 17 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mildred Cloyd of Woodville; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Flowers was preceded in death by her brothers, R. E. Freeman and Harold Freeman; sisters, Morine Jones and Elsie Miles; granddaughter, Joanna Burrous; and great-granddaughter, Victoria Foster.

Serving as pallbearers are David Burrous, Jason Burrous, Jimmy Flowers, Jeff Hammack, D. G. Burrous and James Hammack, III.

Honorary pallbearers are Joe E. Flowers and Cody Murrey.

Mrs. Flowers' family wishes to extend special thanks to Woodland Heights ICU Step Down Unit, ER and second floor nurses, Stoneleigh Estates and K and K Home Health for the loving care shown to her.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
