

Services for Floyd L. Long, Jr., 91, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Reverend Horace Fletcher officiating.
Mr. Long was born January 2, 1924 in Garrison, Texas, the son of the late Lola (Cooper) and Floyd L. Long, Sr. He passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Long was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was retired from the City of Lufkin as Water Production Superintendent. He was an avid golfer. He was a past president of the Lufkin JayCees and was an animal lover. Mr. Long served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II and was a member of VFW Post #1836 for more than 50 years. He was a member of Redland Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Mike Wittmann of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Danny J. and Janie Long of Houston; grandchildren, Kelly, Kevin, and Kasey; 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Geri Coates of Nacogdoches; and a number of other family members.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Hampton Long in 2005; and his brother, Johnny Long.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Long’s memory may be made to Hospice in the Pines, 1504 W. Frank Avenue, Lufkin, TX 75904.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until service time at the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
