Helen M. Elliott Gilbert

Helen was a member of Homer United Methodist Church and had many friends. She enjoyed church, quilting, playing cards, and being with family.

She is survived by her sons, Robert Gilbert and wife, Diedre Cook Gilbert of Houston and Randy Gilbert and wife, Amanda Cook Gilbert of Lufkin; grandchildren, Randa Gilbert of Texas City, Robbie Gilbert of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Lesa Dixon Styles and Sunny Rodgers, Tammy Monaghan and Robert Gilbert, Jr. and wife, Tyra Young of Houston; step-grandchildren, Adriane Matthew Heffelfinger, Lauren Matthews Lusk and husband, Frank Lusk, Blake Matthews, and Gregory Matthews; great-grandchildren, Nick Williams, Evan Styles, Sarah Ann Monaghan, Ella Jane Gilbert, Dylan and Brenden Lusk, Madeline Jane, Matthew, and Andrew Heffelfinger. Other survivors are sisters-in-law, Edna Saunders Elliott of Port Arthur, Doris Gilbert Stites and husband, Bob, of Houston, and brother-in-law, James Gilbert and wife, Donna Sue McKaughan of Lufkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by special friends, Jessie and Nell Cox and Dorothy Dorsett of Lufkin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Gilbert in 1983; her parents, siblings, sisters, Dorothy Elliott Moore of California, Sally Elliott Landwehr; and brothers, Nilon, Revell, Hiram A., Jr., Luke and John Ed Elliott.

Pallbearers will be Glen Landwehr, Robbie Eugene Gilbert, Nick Williams, Evan Styles, Blake Matthews, Gregory Matthews, Robert L. Gilbert, Jr. and Donnie Quarles.

Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Gipson Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin with Rev. Jerry Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in Fielder Cemetery in Bald Hill.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
