Helen Joyce Roberts

Funeral service for Helen Joyce Roberts, 92, will be held at 10AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the Elwyn Marcus Gipson Chapel of Garden of Memories Memorial Park with Pastor Vasily Osadchuck. Helen will be laid to rest at Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Mrs. Roberts was born March 7, 1932, in Laredo, Texas, daughter of the late Leah (Montgomery) and Ira Lee Pepper. She passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 in her residence.

Helen loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was an entrepreneur, owner of several businesses, and very active with the community. Helen had a passion for music, she enjoyed singing opera and listening to music. She also enjoyed playing Bridge.

Survivors include daughters, Debi and husband, Dixon Shanks of Lufkin, and Suzanne Miller of Lufkin; grandchildren, Taran Shanks, Laura Lee Colten, Anna Gale Hamilton, Meagan, Caitlin, Alaine, and Gillian; great-grandchildren, Sean, Leah, Saralynn, Luke, Eden, Eve, Arlo, Coco, and Jovie; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles A. Roberts (2008); and daughter, Sherry Gale Steele (2020).

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Harmony Hill Baptist Church, 2708 S. Chestnut St., Lufkin, Texas.
