Iva Nell Haley

Iva Nell Largent Haley passed away peacefully in her residence at Pinecrest Retirement Community August 24, 2012. She was born in Lufkin to Fannie and Will Largent on August 23, 1921. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Cecil Haley and 8 siblings. She was a fifth generation Texan.

Iva Nell was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who happily served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ through her churches in Bellaire and Lufkin, Texas. She was a faithful member of First Baptist from the time she and Cecil moved back to Lufkin in 1981, until her health prevented her regular participation. Her spiritual gift was hospitality and she was a gracious hostess, famous for her wondereful seafood gumbo and the gingerbread she shared, warm from the oven, with friends throughout Lufkin.

Iva Nell is survived by her son, Jim Haley and his wife, Barbara, of Lufkin; daughter, Sara Berry and husband, Brent, of Pearland; grandchildren and their spouses: Shannon and Christy Browne of Logan, Utah; Gretchen and Ray Ehrig of Friendswood; Lori and Matt Bisson of Bellaire; and Cara and Ed Busch of Kaufman, as well as her six great-grandchildren, Chase and Kelsey Ehrig, Conner and Haley Busch, and Will and Sam Bisson, as well as numerous nephews and nieces.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Pinecrest Retirement Community for their care and affection for Iva Nell.

Services for Mrs. Haley will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2012 in the Elwyn M. Gipson Memorial Chapel in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park, with Bro. Mark Wilke officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Gipson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church, 106 E. Bremond, Lufkin, Texas 75901, or to the charity of your choice.
